It’s All In The Details

Two jackets, hung side-by-side. Shapes are fairly similar. One is just a tad darker in color, but both warm as can be. Why pick one over the other? Is there something about one that draws you in? Maybe it’s the lining, or the hand embroidery that seems to tell a story all the way up the sleeve.
It’s the details, the little details that make something feel that much more special. I’ve been wearing Free People clothes since I was 15, and the way the clothes make me feel has played a huge part in why I work here today – my most-loved and cherished pieces are those that possess a hand-touched quality. From unique tags to intricate embellishment, creative thought and care goes into into everything.  Seeing the designers at work is so exciting, as they’re the ones crafting up all those special little details, making the garments one-of-a-kind. I’m the kind of person that will buy something in every color if it’s a piece that makes me feel good and I want to wear all the time. But what if a piece like this goes out of stock?
They say good things never last, but I’d like to disagree. There’s always room to bring back those things which are worthy, and our site is now full of these back-in-stock items. Interested? Take a peek below, and start prepping those wardrobes for fall!

Office Style: The Perfect World Tee

This post comes from our blog intern, Monica!
At summer’s end, the office somehow becomes a little bit more magical. As our store managers gather for the FP Holiday Party, and everyone embraces the spirit of the changing seasons, there seems to be an excitement indicative only of this time of year.
It’s also the time of year where putting an outfit together becomes a little tricky – the morning chill sets in until mid-afternoon, at which point a sweltering heat takes its place. The perfect solution? The Perfect World Tee — it can be layered up for colder days or worn solo when days are warmer.

MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSONAL STYLE BLOGGERS

In the suddenly web-obsessed world of fashion, bloggers are some of the industry's brightest stars. But it's one group of bloggers--not those of us who report on news, or those tracking trends--who garner the greatest amount of spotlight.
Personal style bloggers put themselves out there. Not only do they share their favorite fashions, trends, and ideas, they also take pictures of themselves wearing their favorite looks on a daily basis.
So it's no wonder those in the fashion industry and beyond have embraced personal style bloggers as internet celebrities. Brands like Coach and Urban Outfitters have even hired some of them to design product.
Fashionista's compiled a list of the most influential personal style bloggers right now: The ones really worth the advertising campaigns, endorsement deals and guest design stints. While our methods aren't scientific, we did take these factors into consideration: monthly unique users, monthly pageviews, Twitter followers, Google News mentions, and the amount--and what kind of--advertising these style sensations have on their Web sites. We also considered the overall appeal of the person. (For more information on our methodology, email us.)
Here's our list. Who'd be on yours?

1. TAVI GEVINSON

14-year-old blogger Tavi Gevinson appears unstoppable. Not only does the fashion industry lover her and respect what she has to say, she's become a sort of a teen sensation--a first for fashion journalism.

2. SUSANNA LAU, AKA SUSIE BUBBLE

Lau's one of those rare bloggers that's also an amazing stylist. Her upfront and unassuming dialogue allows her talent for making anything look good shine. The London-based Lau, who recently ended a stint at Dazed Digital, is also known for introducing unknown designers to a larger audience.

3. RUMI NEELY

The 25-year-old Neely's success can be credited to her highly-constructed photo shoots, which look more like amateur magazine editorials than a family album. Since launching the blog in 2007, Neely's designed for RVCA. She's also repped by NEXT modeling agency.

THE BEST BAGS FROM THE SPRING 2014 RUNWAYS

Fashion Month is finally over. Now it's time to kick back, relax, and look back at all of the pretty handbags that the spring runways had to offer.
Fashion Month is finally over! Now it's time to kick back, relax, and look back at all of the pretty handbags that the spring runways had to offer.
Prepare for a lot of clutching action this spring. From drawstring backpacks atBurberry to quilted portfolios at Chanel, designers took a literal approach to handbags this season as models held their purses in their hands instead of with a strap.
While Lanvin decided to experiment with a classy take on the trash bag, a number of designers stuck to classic shapes for their bags: Miu Miu and Dolce & Gabbana took on the timeless snap bag, while doctor bags got the 3.1 Phillip Lim treatment.

THE BIGGEST TRENDS FROM THE SPRING 2016 RUNWAYS

After four long weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris, the spring 2016 collections have finally come to a close. There were ups and there were downs, but most importantly, there were trends — a whole lot of them, actually. We've already covered what each city specialized in this month, and now it's time to take a look at the bigger picture. You may remember that the biggest trend of fall 2015 was the '70s, and while this did continue into spring, the nostalgia was a little more spread out this time around. For those of you who aren't as enamored with all things retro, don't fret — there was a lot more to the season than simply looking to the past. Read on to get a full rundown on spring's top trends.

'90S

Fashion is feeling pretty nostalgic these days, but of the decades referenced this season, the '90s were the biggest story — especially in Paris. Rave culture, minimalism, grunge and fanny packs all made appearances. You have been warned.

RUFFLES

Ruffles lined garments on an impressive number of catwalks. They came in many shapes and sizes, but most designers used them sparsely — and to great effect.

THE COLD SHOULDER

Shoulders were the go-to erogenous zone for spring 2016. If a designer had a chance to show them off, they took it. From off-the-shoulder tops to shoulder cutouts to asymmetrical necklines, it felt like no runway was left out of this trend. See below for examples of each.

CRUMPLED FABRIC

Ironing can be a bit of a hassle (especially if you're bad at it), but even if you're a pro, there is probably a more productive way to spend your time in the morning. Luckily, the answer to this is simple: pre-creased and rumpled clothing, of course.

MICRO PLEATS

In a season where pleats were a big story, many designers sculpted their spring silhouettes through micro pleats.

VICTORIAN

High necks, ruffles, bows and broderie anglaise were just a few of the common elements for one of spring's most popular trends — Victorian-inspired looks. This is one you may recall being popular for fall 2015 as well.

TRAILING TASSELS

Like a tail trailing from a comet, tassels (wide, thin, fabric, string, etc.) seemed to adorn every other look on the runway. Some were the result of a bow or some other utilitarian knot, others were just there for decoration. Either way, they left an impression.

PAJAMA DRESSING

From left to right: Natasha Zinko, Creatures of Comfort, Balenciaga, Loewe, and Sonia Rykiel

You know that feeling after you get home from work and change into your comfiest clothes? Designers clearly want this to be a constant sensation for their customers come spring, and they showed more than enough daytime pajama options for everyone.

Airport Fashion – What To Pack For Your Summer Holiday

St Pancras London- French Traveller

Airport Fashion

From France to Barcelona to London we are noticing a chic travel trend. I have to say the men were rocking it at each airport. It was nice to see men making a great effort in their travel attire. So what key pieces am I noticing men wearing for 2013? What comfortable travel essentials are men seeking after? First of all what’s the point spending all that cash on clothes. If you can’t show your international counter parts what sense of style you are all about.

Mans Bag

A mans bag is a must now. It’s perfect to keep all your important documents in a safe place, meaning with you. Do you know how many men I see running around at the airport because they have left their passport, phone or wallet some where at the bar? Keep your mansbag small so you then can put it in your hand luggage once your on the plane. Easy to find later.

RIMOWA

These suitcases feel and look great. You can push along so easily, infact running with them as well. But they are so light and you can store so much in them.  I adore the height-adjustable packing dividers. They make it easy to secure items in place and prevent them from getting creased. The hand-luggage has amazing storage and the concept is all about practicality and perfect for any man wanting to step out in travel style.

Jackets

There are immense options now. However for spring summer either a blazer, trench or jean jacket with pockets are so versatile and can be used through out the day till the sun rises. G-star RAW and Diesel Denim have a huge variety of jackets this summer. As for your blazer TOPMAN or ZARA should sort you out here. If you are careful and responsible with your clothes then spend the cash. But don’t if you manage to ruin your jackets or lose it on your travels.

Jeans

Always essential to pack at least three. Go for a dark and light denim. Nice variety for day and night outings. I find sometimes take some old denim trousers and you know how it is when travelling. You get caught up in the buying spirit. So a perfect opportunity to ditch your well worn jeans for a nice updated pair. Your third pair could be perfect when cuffed nice summer look for wherever you are heading.
Shorts
ZARA  have a great choice at the moment. So experiment with what look good on your legs. Some men look good with long short some look better with super short. Go for a linen pair, denim and cotton. So each day is a new refreshing look. Don’t be afraid of floral either. Summer is all about fun, free and a party spirit.

Shirts and T-shirts

I would pack at least five of each. Again once on holiday you may find you will ditch the old shirts for something up beat and new. T-shirts use is only for during the day. Your shorts are great for evening parties. They look good with chinos, jeans and shorts. Have at least one plain shirt. Make sure they match your bottom half.

Shoes

Boat shoes are perfect for summer great with trousers and shorts. Make sure your flip flops are up to trend. You should buy news ones every year. Sandals, it makes my blood boil how many men still wear sock with sandals. DON’T. Common guys sort it out. For night shoes loafers wearing them sock less are so nice and smart.

Parr & Co Watches – Classic Watch For Every Occasion – Kickstarter

Classic Style Watches Are Back

The style of a classic watch is timeless. They seems to play on a completely different level to your standard watch or even the new ‘smart’ watches out there. A classic timepiece always seems to look great with every outfit. Wait, is that completely true? No, its not. One things that most classic-style watches have in common is a permanent strap. This is where Parr & Co Watches are different.
Parr & Co Watches was founded by two lifelong friends from Miami, Florida. After high school, they attended the University of Florida, on the pre-med track. In their senior year of college they decided to delay their plans for Medical School to follow our lifelong dream of starting a collection of watches instead. Fascinated by the trends that expensive Swiss luxury watch brands offered yet being unable to afford them, they set out to create a brand of their own. After endless design thought processes, research, hard work, and hours in the UF architecture lab, they finally established a watch brand, Parr & Co.

Inter-changeable Straps

The issue of having a miss-matched watch strap with your style has all but been eradicated by Parr & Co. With their super easy strap changer it takes no more than 5 seconds to replace your strap. This is something that classic-faced watches were missing. We know that some of the better known ‘Smart Watches’ out there have this facility, but the classic timepieces seem to have been left behind until now. With its complete ease of use, changing the strap on this watch is something you’ll want to do at every opportunity. You’ll always be able to get your complete style right on.
Easy Change Strap Design

Classic Face

One of the most attractive things about this watch is the overall style and feel. There is such a quietly confident feel about the watch that allows it to be very impressive to the eye. The roman numerals paired with high quality materials add to the feel of a more luxury brand.

Top Poker Players – Signature Styles Worth Millions

Signature Styles

Here’s what we can learn from the signature styles of top poker players. Looking to make an impact at your next poker game? Or perhaps you just want to outsmart the competition? Whatever your motives, we’ve decoded the dress sense of some of the world’s top poker players, so that you can get ahead at your next game.

Phil Ivey –  Casual and Capped

Phil Ivey, a player with millions of dollars to spend on clothing, is a man that is seldom seen without decent threads. Phil is often called the best poker player in the world thanks to his amazing track record, and it’s no wonder he likes to keep himself well presented for each game – he’s in the spotlight and he’s aware that looks count for a lot when it comes to reputation. However, if we take a closer look at Phil’s signature style we can see that it’s not just about wearing the latest fashions. Smart hoodies, shirts and plaid all feature heavily in his wardrobe, and he’s also been known to sport the odd smart jacket too. But there’s one thing which features a lot in his poker attire and that’s his trusty baseball cap. Rather than having one “lucky” cap, he wears different caps, usually with the logo of a big poker name on them. And here’s the secret sauce: he makes the cap look like an effortless part of his outfit, rather than a clever accessory to help his game. You see, lots of poker stars use the humble baseball cap as a tool to shield their eyes from other players. The peak of the cap obscures the face, especially when looking down at one’s cards. It also draws the eye upwards to the logo on the cap, rather than at the player’s face.
Something else Phil’s been spotted with frequently is a large pair of headphones, helping him to focus on his game by blocking out other sounds. The music could also be helping him with concentration, keeping him in just the right state of mind to think about his next move. On a psychological level, the ear phones also help distract other players from watching his facial expressions, as they draw the eye to the periphery of the face instead. They give him a nonchalant look, making him appear relaxed and composed. Something to think about the next time you head off to a poker game.
